Located along the base of the Ruby Mountains Spring Creek Association offers a 5 station sheltered handgun and rifle range. Shooters can enjoy the range facilities from sunrise to sunset daily.

Rifle Range

There is no Range Master on site; however, the area is patrolled by SCA Staff throughout the day. The range includes restrooms, tables, benches, and target backstops set at various intervals. This is a target range only—no clay shooting, tannerite, shotguns, or fully automatic firearms are permitted. For clay shooting, please use the Spring Creek Trap and Skeet range.

Please note:

  • Do not bring glass or plastic items to use as targets.
  • Users must clean up spent rounds and targets before leaving.
  • A gate code is required for access. Non-property owners may purchase a code through the Reservation System or by scanning the QR code at the gate.
  • The facility is available for private matches when reserved by shooting clubs.

These amenities belong to the property owners of Spring Creek and are maintained by the Spring Creek Association. The following rules have been adopted by the Board of Directors to ensure safety and enjoyment for all users.

General Requirements

  • All users must be in good standing with the Committee of Architecture (COA), and association dues must be current.
  • Always practice proper gun safety.
  • Users must have appropriate footwear—no open-toe or open-heel shoes allowed.

Range Rules

  • Maximum shooting distance is 200 yards.
  • Range markers are located at 50, 100, and 200 yards.
  • Use only appropriate target stands. (See posted specifications.)
  • Do not shoot at rocks, fence posts, or outside designated range boundaries.
  • Range hours are dawn to dusk unless otherwise posted.
  • Firearms must be cased and unloaded when arriving or leaving the range.
  • Treat all firearms as if they are loaded.
  • Keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.
  • Always point the muzzle downrange.
  • Only one firearm may be used at a time. When finished, case the unloaded firearm and store its ammunition before un-casing another.
  • Know your target and what lies beyond it.
  • Use only the correct ammunition for your firearm.  Tracer rounds are not permitted.
  • All firearms must be unloaded and actions open during target inspection.
  • Handguns are not permitted on the rifle side of the range.
  • Shoot only from the designated firing line at the provided tables.
  • All shooters must wear hearing and eye protection.
  • No alcohol or drugs are allowed at the range.
  • No smoking is allowed at the range.
  • No off-site shooting is permitted.
  • Shotguns and clay pigeons are not allowed.
  • Do not shoot target stand berms.
  • Do not use cardboard boxes, plastic cartons, pallets, jugs, or glass items as targets.
  • Tables and target stands are numbered for lane assignments.
  • When a cease fire is requested, stop shooting immediately, put down your firearm, and step away from the firing line. Do not return to the line until an all-clear is given.
  • Adult supervision is required for shooters under the age of 18.
  • Shooters may collect their brass behind the firing line only after all firearms are cased and they are ready to leave.
  • Clean and inspect your firing line station before leaving (remove trash, targets, casings, etc.).
  • Foul language, horseplay, or any unsafe behavior will not be tolerated and may result in removal from the facility.
  • Abuse or misuse of the range may lead to suspension of access rights.
