Did you know noxious weeds are illegal per NRS?
Per NRS 555.150 - Control of noxious weeds by owner or occupant of land. Every railroad, canal, ditch or water company, and every person owning, controlling or occupying lands in this State, and every county, incorporated city or district having the supervision and control over streets, alleys, lanes, rights-of-way, or other lands, shall control all weeds declared and designated as noxious as provided in NRS 555.130 in any manner specified by and whenever required by the State Quarantine Officer.
The most common noxious weeds in this area are, Hoary Cress, several varieties of Thistle and Spotted Knapweed. A complete list can be found on the Nevada Department of Agricultures page HERE.
Each Spring and Fall, SCA sprays for weeds on the sides of the roads and various amenities to try and prevent their growth and spread around the community. You may see the weed spraying truck around your area which dispenses a blue color dye. For those of you who have requested this year to not spray near your bees or homes, we have you on the list. If you would like to be added to this list please fill out the form HERE. Please find the nuisance and noxious weed list below to review the typical weeds we see in our area and what you can help do about them.

Please be reminded of the rules and safety guidelines for the Dock, Beach, Swim, and Dam areas at the Marina. There is an inherent risk when entering freshwater with ducks or geese present, including swimmer’s itch and other waterborne concerns, so proper hygiene and preventative measures are encouraged. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times, and there is no lifeguard on duty—swim at your own risk. Life jackets or safety devices are required for anyone swimming, and diving or jumping from the dock or shore is strictly prohibited.
