Do you know how the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada (PUCN) regulates private utilities like Great Basin Water Co.? When proposed changes are made to your water rates or GBWC presents plans on improving the system, the PUCN provides oversight of those decisions, trying to strike a balance between the consumer and the utility. Meanwhile, the Bureau of Consumer Protection (BCP) participates in PUCN decisions related to utilities, representing the interest of customers. Read more about the PUCN and BCP in this month’s article “How Does the Public Utilities Commission Regulate Your Water?”

The Spring Creek Association is aware that there is a growing concern of the Spring Creek membership in regards to water and water rates. Our Association has put together a volunteer Water Committee who’s focus is to establish water conservation practices, communication to Utilities Inc. and the Public Utilities Commission regarding any issues, and to ultimately try and help reduce the burden to our membership.
To file a formal complaint with the PUCN please find their form HERE. You can also email, PKOSTES@PUC.NV.GOV or call (775) 684-6100 with questions.

CC Communications/Internet:
CC Communications came before the Spring Creek Association's Board last year and said what we would do, and with construction underway, it is clear CC communications is the type of company that keeps its word. Our materials for phase I are on site in Elko and construction has started. We are in the process of designing the distribution facilities for tracts 100 and 400, pleasant valley estates, and locations NW of I80 in the City of Elko. Tracts 100 and 400 may be built prior to the main-line fiber arriving on Lamoille Hwy so that customers can be turned up sooner. Tracts 200 and 300 are scheduled to follow the SW Gas timeline. Please listen for updates on local radio and see www.springcreekinternet.com for future updates, pricing, and packages. Speeds up to 1GB, NO SO-CALLED $800 “subsidy”, no mandatory monthly equipment fee added to the price, NO term contracts, and two-year price locks. As the oldest Fiber to the Home provider in Nevada, the first to deploy gigabit service in rural Nevada, and a true Nevada company, CC Communications is the right choice for Internet.
Safelink Communications:
Safelink Internet is actively planning the construction of a new fiber internet service in Spring Creek and Elko with plans to announce a groundbreaking date soon. Safelink will offer plans up to 10 Gbps with unlimited data, price-lock for life, and Guardian content filtering and device management all included. Updates will be posted to their website and emailed to those that sign up. To learn more about the project, visit www.SafelinkInternet.com/spring-creek.
Rise Broadband:
Rise Broadband teams began a large scale project to overhaul and improve their network. This project will provide a better experience for current Spring Creek and Elko customers, but sets forth a path to provide the fastest internet speeds ever delivered by Rise Broadband per the company. Contact Rise directly at (844) 411-RISE or www.RiseBroadband.com.
White Cloud:
White Cloud Communications has been busy since 2019. They have internet service to over 400 customers in the Spring Creek and Elko areas now. Several new towers are being installed in the SC area this year. White Cloud has partnered with Southwest Gas and will be putting fiber conduit within the SW Gas open trench. This will allow them to bring fiber to homes/businesses within the Spring Creek area in the future. Learn more about White Cloud at www.WhiteCloudCom.com.
Anthem Broadband:
Anthem Broadband is actively constructing a new fiber internet project that will bring all of Elko and Spring Creek the fastest and most reliable fiber internet service available. This new plan is scheduled to be completed in as little as two years, without being reliant on the schedules of others, like the gas company. Those that sign up will have NO construction fee, NO installation fee, NO activation fee, and NO contract. We believe you will be so amazed by the service you’ll never want to go anywhere else. The new Digital Transformation Project will utilize redundant service paths to the east and west to provide the most reliable service available. We will also be utilizing a lesser used installation practice, called Active Ethernet, that will give every location a direct connection back to a switch, not a shared line that could mean your neighbors can affect the speeds you are getting. https://elko.anthembroadband.com/ 775-389-2894
